Backyard Gourd Birdhouses - June 3

What can you do with gourds? “What can’t you do with gourds?” would be Tim and Diane Sauter’s answer! Tim and Dianne are the owners of Big Yellow House Designs in Malta and have been creating unbelievable sculptures from gourds for many years. Some of their sculptures look like wild animals, some turn into lamps, and some become lovely little homes for our feathered friends. In addition to creating amazing creations from gourds, Tim & Diane also love teaching and we are happy to have them lead a “Charlton Makes!” workshop for us this year! 

In this 3 hour workshop, you will get to make two unique bird houses from Tim’s very own collection of dried gourds. You’ll learn how to prepare and clean out the gourds, create an entrance hole and plan designs, decorate and add finishing touches so you can hang your bird houses up as soon as you get home!

Time: 1pm – 4pm

Cost includes workshop instruction and $25.00 for materials. 

Experience level: This class is well suited for all ages and no previous experience is necessary. Kids under 14 welcome with a participating parent.
